You remember those local dishes, those ingredients, those smiles and that magnificent glamor of the simplicity. Of course, between trips, it is always nice to return home, to enjoy those traditional meals, and those familiar drinks, the ones we are used to have. I love mixing cultures. And gastronomy is, without any doubt, a way of doing this. I just love combining the best of the West, and the best of the East. Who said this could not be done? Some years ago, in Borneo, we were walking around the Sabah Forest and we needed to stop. The heat, the humidity, the lack of food. All the odds were against us. After walking and walking, we reached a nice river and we decided to stop for a while. 200 meters to the left we could see a small village. Those special villages, those villages that can´t be found in Lonely Planet. Suddenly, a kid of 10 years old or so, started to run in our direction. He looked at us and exclaimed, in perfect English: “Come, Meet Sally!” Since then, our lives changed. Meeting Sally was the opening door of a new life of experiences, flavours and ingredients. The world has changed for us. Meeting Sally was a one-way ticket to China, to Paris, to New York, to every city you can imagine. Since we met Sally, we decided to travel non-stop, but with no plans. Instead, we have decided to travel by cooking.
